the House always wins

freefalling stops
with a bounce.

Icarus not lost at sea
but down on the rocks

upon which he is broken
and then redeemed.

now I see myself as Daedalus
the Father warning his son.

you give them wings
without which

there is no ascent
and no falling.

while not yet a father
but after crashing

I am rising
not wind-blown

and not
weightless either.
